Juvenile Section

This week sees the return of all our Juvenile Teams.  Our U/15 and U/16 boys teams will be preparing for their Championship.  Best of luck to our Juvenile Ladies football players and mentors who start their Championship campaign this weekend.

This years U16 Boys have their jerseys sponsored by Progressive Credit Union.  Some of the team called up to their Branch in Rivervalley a few weeks ago to thank them for their generosity and had a few photos taken.

Hurling 7 - a- Sides
A great morning was had during the week with the Ice Cream Cup Hurling 7-a-sides.  A super turn out from our 12 to 16 year olds saw very competitive blitz and some great skills on show.  Winners got Magnums, runners up got Orange Splits and everyone else had to settle for a packet of Jellies.

Fingallians LGFA  All-Star Club Legends - Dave McKittrick

Amy McGuinness

As the Dubs Ladies go in search of their fourth All Ireland in a row in September, we acknowledge the feats of our two club LGFA all stars in Amy McGuinness and Sinéad Finnegan who wore the Fins and Dubs jerseys with pride.

Both Amy and Sinéad have worn the Dublin jersey at senior level for over 20 years between them after coming through the juvenile ranks from u14 up to Senior.

At club level Amy stood away from the senior setup at Fins end of 2019 and Sinéad is still flying with the seniors to date.

Amy made her club debut alongside the boys u10 teams as regulations at the time allowed for female players to play with boys teams up to u12. Sinéads early days of football were played on the pitches around Raheny. Amy featured on the u14 Feile team alongside other LGFA club legends like Fiona Hudson, Debbie Doherty , Denise McKenna, Aoife Greene and our new club facilities manageress Claire Thorton to name a few, as they won Dublin and Leinster and lost out in the All Ireland.

Both Sinéad and Amy would  team up together when the club started up a Ladies Junior team in 2002 under the guidance of Gerry Greene, Mary McGuinness, Helen and Mick Kelly to cater for the growing numbers of girls playing the game. They went on to capture the club's first Junior title and then became Leinster Champions only to lose out to a very good Cork team in the final. Alongside the two Ladies, Fins had club stalwarts in Nicky Fitzgerald who captained the team, Karen Hudson, Laura McGahan, Aine Deasy and Aoife Dunne  all who would go on to represent Dublin at juvenile and adult levels over the coming years.

The following season the ladies helped Fins win a first Intermediate title and move into the senior ranks which they hold since.

After a few years Dublin made it to the 2010 All Ireland Senior and Senior B (Ashling McGin cup finals).  Amy played in the senior final scoring 1-3, while Sinéad  starred in the B final. Over the following years Sinéad  moved into the first team setup and  kept many of the top names in LGFA quiet on the pitch over the years from  2010-2018 in roles either at number 6 or guarding the square at no 3.  Amy finished up with Dublin around 2013 after a long career that began back in 2001 as an u14.

Amy capped off a great year in 2010 with alongside the All Ireland medal was awarded an All Star which was the first female All Star award in the club's history.

2013 became the most productive in the Ladies section with both players contributing to Fins winning the Senior league and championship double for the very first time.

Sinéad became the second Fins person to win an LGFA All Star in 2015 after a brilliant year with Dublin and capped off a great year in 2017 by winning the first of her  two All Ireland medals after many years.  The final  trophy won by the two ladies  was the  senior league final  of 2016. If any of our up-and-coming stars from our LGFA section can follow in Amy and Sinéads footsteps the future of ladies football will be very strong within the club.  Below are the two ladies accolades they have achieved over their years in Dublin and Fingallians jerseys.

Hope you enjoy reading about our LGFA club legends .
