U/10 Boys getting instruction on blocking from Vincent and John Brett.

What a great week we've had with all our Juvenile teams getting back to play.  This week sees the return of the Joe Duffy Nursery and Academy on Saturday and all our Adult Teams from Monday.

This year we have a record number of Adult teams representing the club.  It will also be the first time in over 30 years that we have  Adult Camogie Teams.  It looks like teams may even be back playing matches in mid June given the Government announcement last Thursday.

This weekend also sees the return of inter county National League.  It starts with our hurlers and we wish the Dubs the very best of luck against Kilkenny in Parnell Park on Saturday afternoon.

Ladies Football

Over the Bank Holiday weekend our Senior Ladies along with friends and family took part in group marathons in aid of the deserving charity Aware.   Despite the weather conditions not always being favourable they managed to raise €3,000.  A massive thank you to all of you who supported this great cause.  And a super well done to our Senior Ladies and all those that took part.

Aware provides support services to individuals managing their own experience of depression.  Support Line and Support Mail are available 7 days a week.

The Clubs History
Dave McKittrick writes about some of our Adult teams through the decades

As we welcome back all our adult teams to the training pitches over  the coming week we take a trip down memory lane with a few pictures of teams from the 40s 70s and 80s

The adult section began with football teams competing at senior and Junior levels.

During the 70/80s hurling teams were formed but mostly took part in Festival games.  It wasn't until the mid nineties with the emergence of very good minor teams they reached junior ranks and over the past decade have moved into the intermediate leagues within Dublin winning leagues and championships on the way.

The 40s was a quiet time for football within the club but during these years the club were allowed to have  players from other county's  playing leagues, the two most notable players were Donal Beggy from Tyrone and Paddy Murray from Armagh alongside our own trio of Nick Savage, C Heenan and K Quinn of Dublin. Other club stalwarts  included P Moran, Joe Rourke ,P Garrigan,Har Donnelly, Harry Green, the brothers - Kevin and Fintan Howard , Tommy and William Mc Kittrick and Noel. The team had many successes winning Fingal,  McArdle, and Feis Cups along the way.

The 70s picture with all the long hairdos is one of our u21 side which included players who progressed into the Junior Championship runners up  team of 79 and our senior teams of the 80s which won the league  senior div 1 titles in 84 and 85.The history of teams from this era will be told another day. Players included in the picture are D Caul, C Duff, S Carslake, P Mc Kittrick, R Hoey, C Reidy,E Keogh,D Markey ,P Grimes,M Fitzsimons, K Madden, K Daunt, P O Hara & D Murphy.
