National Club Draw

GAA draw was a great success for the club in difficult times.  We managed to raise the maximum €25,000 for the club.  We'd like to thank all the teams for selling the tickets and thank parents, players, family and friends of Fins from home and abroad for supporting the club by buying tickets. A special thanks to Aiden Doherty who tirelessly pushed and drove the whole scheme across the club over many months.
Good luck to everyone in the rescheduled draw date on June 4th.

We would like to thank all of those who have paid their membership to date.    As you are all probably aware at this stage  all players and mentors must have their membership paid prior to taking part in any training or games. We would urge anyone who has not paid, please do so as soon as possible.

The Clubs History
Dave McKittrick writes about our Juvenile section past and present.

T. Madden, Noel Hoey, Paddy O'Brien, Kit Kenny,Joe McGonagle, Joe Ryan Wm Reilly, Mike Scahill, James Markey,

Joe Dirnait, Liam O'Toole, Billie Gallagher, Bill Mongey

The juvenile section started in the early 50's when Jim Howard (great grandfather of TJ current senior player) set about training local lads after school in a field in North Street (where Applegreen is today).  These juveniles went on to represent Fingallians at Senior level at the end of the decade.

In the 70's  alot of new housing developments started to spring up which meant more schools and hence the juvenile section started to grow and grow.  With the assistance of Ciaran Duff, James McNally, Ciaran Reidy and Peter McKittrick who began training juvenile teams, we entered into the North Dublin leagues during winter and the the Fingal Leagues during the summer. Many great tales could be told on infamous trips to away matches when it was allowed to have big numbers crammed into cars and buses.  The training sessions and games were played on the juvenile pitch (all weather today) which became the carpark on a Sunday.

During the 80s the parents of players assumed the role of mentors and the section had teams from u9-u18 competing at all levels.  During this time the club introduced hurling to the section, followed in the early 90's with Ladies football and then camogie in the noughties to complete the range of activities available today to every child that arrives as a new member.

Lots of mentors helped the growth of this section down through the years.  Success followed in both league and championship which laid the foundation for many good minor and adult teams. There has been a huge rejuvenation and growth over the past 15 years with 1,000 juveniles now participating.

Pictures this week are from the 50's 70's 80's and 90's.  Can you spot yourself or any of your team mates.  Many of the individuals  in the pictures are now back coaching teams today.
